Vehicles
The motor car and transport industry is an innovative industry, which focuses on new materials and construction solutions, which can optimise the production process and the vehicles. Plastic is playing an ever increasing role.
Because of the unique workability of plastic and the wide range of plastic types, each with their own specific properties, solutions can be optimised to create the very properties that are required. |

|
Easy assembly The production time for a trailer for example must be reduced continually - "click-fit" solutions can be created using plastic, i.e. during assembly, parts of the plastic products can be deformed during the instant that the product is pressed against an assembly item. This saves both time and money. |

|
Joining Avoid using dangerous solvents and adhesive types. Many thermoplastic materials can be joined together using ultrasound or heat, so that for example deliveries of seals measured in metres can be replaced by welded frames in 'ready-to-fit' dimensions. |

|
Two materials A soft and flexible gasket can be used together with a hard assembly component when both tightness and rapid assembly is required. This combination is unique and PRIMO has extensive experience of the following materials: PP + TPE, ASA + ACL, Hard PVC + Soft PVC. |

|
Soiling Are you experiencing problems with black lines? PRIMO has developed a special material for protective strips and side seals with extremely good tear strength and cold and ozone resistance. The material has the additional advantage that it does not cause coloured deposits with black stripes and it can be manufactured in many different colours. The material can of course also be recycled, so protecting the environment. |

|
Friction The problem of needing to use extreme force to close a door with seals can be overcome by using a low-friction material which is co-extruded on the soft lips, i.e. parts of the "rubber surface" are covered with a thin, smooth film. The co-extrusion does not alter the flexibility of the lips. |
|
|
| |
|
Reuse Ever stricter requirements are being imposed on the recyclability of the components that are used in a car or trailer. This imposes requirements on material selection. PRIMO can advise you on recyclable materials for both single-component and multi-component solutions. |

Weight/strength
The lower the density, the greater the loading capacity. PRIMO is developing and introducing new plastic types which are intended to reduce the weight whilst retaining or improving the strength. PRIMO's extensive experience of a wide variety of constructions combined with new materials/additives often leads to solutions with lower weight and greater strength.
PRIMO focuses on meeting the needs of industry. We are the market leader and extrude and injection-mould most plastic materials, including everything from hard and soft thermoplastics to wood composites, silicon and glass-fibre reinforced polyester.
We have extensive experience as a supplier and product developer to the motor car industry and currently supply both extruded and injection-moulded products for:
- Body profiles (tank bands, decorative profiles, edge protection)
- Engine components (oil pipes, protective pipes)
- Insulated hoses for fixing straps
- Ducts (air ducts and cable ducts)
- Hoses and pipes - including halogen-free versions
- Fittings (front edges, tyre profiles, edge strips)
- Cladding (chains, reinforcing profiles, edge profiles)
- Load bearers (wind deflectors, decorative profiles, edge protection)
- Doors (sealing profiles, embedded contacts)
