Plastic is becoming increasing used as a building material, both within the areas where plastic materials have traditionally been used, such as windows, coatings and sealing strips, and in areas where plastic is taking over from other materials like wood and metal, such as interior strips and façade cladding.

Plastic has excellent properties as a construction material. It is weather-resistant, durable and can be moulded into any shape, coloured and recycled. Plastic is also often a cheap solution compared with other materials, both to manufacture and as a result of the ease with which it can be worked at the construction site and the reduced waste.
