White goods
Many demands are made on materials and solutions in refrigerators and freezers, yet the market is also extremely price-sensitive. Plastic has many different properties which can be utilised to good effect in the white goods industry.
PRIMO is a specialist in profiles for the refrigerator and freezer industry and fulfils the exacting quality requirements that are imposed on cost-effectiveness, design and material properties. |

Primo is a specialist within both injection-moulding and profile extrusion for the refrigerator and freezer industry and we are one of the leading suppliers in Europe. Primo has built up an impressive production capacity in a number of countries, which enables us manufacture profiles and injection-moulded products, often as just-in-time deliveries, to meet customers' needs.
The ever increasing demands placed on products and the particularly price-sensitive market mean that Primo focuses strongly on ensuring that its manufacturing processes are optimised and profitable.
Primo has its own tool factory for manufacturing injection-moulding and extrusion tools and other advanced equipment for further processing. Our know-how within injection-moulding covers, among other things, IMD & 2K. Within extrusion, our core expertise lies in co-extrusion, triple extrusion, welding and inline processing. Our external sales staff are responsible for both technical and commercial aspects with respect to our customers. This ensures that decisions are made quickly and enables our customers to receive professional advice. |

In the case of development projects, we assess in collaboration with customers what the unit price is and how technical improvements and financial benefits can be achieved by using plastic instead of aluminium, for example.
PRIMO supplies a wide range of products for refrigerators and freezers, including:
- Soft, welded sealing frames for refrigerators and freezers
The profiles are mitre-box sawed and welded together. The frames are supplied with or without a magnet with a holding strength of 40 to 80g/cm in 2- or 3-pole versions
- Hard welded top frames for chest freezers
The profiles are mitre-box sawed and welded to frames with individual length and width dimensions. In addition to the traditional frames, Primo also welds injection-moulded products and extruded profiles to form a finished frame. Primo also produces complete injection-moulded frames.
- Miscellaneous auxiliary and end profiles or injection-moulded products
For example, handles for sliding covers for ice cream boxes either injection-moulded or extruded. Edge strips for sliding covers where adhesive is not to be used during installation. Profiles and injection-moulded products for light housings. There are often advantages to be gained by replacing metal and glass with plastic profiles
- Injection-moulded products
Injection-moulded is often a complementary product which is used in combination with profile extrusion. Examples include vegetable and cheese/cold meat drawers and meat storage units in refrigerators or freezers in a variety of customer-specified materials, where exacting requirements are imposed concerning surface properties.
- Injection-moulded frames for chest freezers, which are manufactured in combination tools to save tool costs.
Materials Within the refrigerator/freezer industry, as in other industries, a focus is placed on NON PVC - Primo offers a wide range of plastics, which we supply to the whole industry. Examples of materials which we are currently supplying to the refrigerator/freezer industry are: TPE, ABS, ASA, PVC, PC, PMMA, PS, SAN, PA, POM, PE and PP. As we can manufacture master batches ourselves, we are able to create an exact colour match using a combination of injection-moulding and extrusion for example. |
